What “no logs” means at sNova

“No logs” is the most repeated promise in the VPN business and the least precise. Every service that carries traffic keeps something, if only to count it. So instead of the slogan, here is the list: what sNova does not record, what it does, and why.

What we do not record

The sites and services you connect to. Your DNS queries. The content of your traffic. Your IP address: the servers see it while they route your packets, because they must, but it is not written to a database or kept in logs beyond handling the request. We do not build profiles and we do not sell data; there is no one to sell it to, because we do not run ads.

What we do keep, and why

An identifier the app generates for your device, so the free allowance is granted once and purchases can be restored. How many bytes the device moved and through which country, so the allowance can be applied. When a session started and ended and which server carried it, so the network can be run and abuse investigated. The subscription status Apple reports. The invitations you created and the bonuses granted.

None of this is tied to a name, an email or a phone number. We do not have those.

What we cannot promise

We speak for our own software and servers. Traffic between your phone and our server crosses networks run by carriers and hosting providers, and in some countries they keep records of their own. No VPN controls those networks, and any VPN that says otherwise is overstating.

If a lawful, binding request reaches us, we can hand over what we hold: the device records above. We cannot hand over a history of the sites you visited, because our software never creates one.

Why it is written down

The Privacy Policy lists every item we keep, how long, and who else is involved: Apple for purchases, our hosting providers for the servers, Firebase for crash reports and product analytics that you can decline. Reading it takes five minutes. That is the version of “no logs” we are willing to sign.
